Ok, I've been a little busy.

After a little hiccup earlier in the season, UConn is playing well. Williams is back in the lineup and they are playing better every game. They still don't look as good as they should, they have their bad moments... but they are finding ways to win games. Big win today against Louisville -- and with Duke, Pitt & Florida all losing (all were undefeated until today), UConn has a shot to be #1 on Monday!

Am very excited, I am getting to see UConn vs. St. Johns on Wednesday, then UConn vs. Pitt a few days after -- in Feb I get to see UConn/Villanova & UConn/Louisville, all at Storrs (the home court on campus).

The St. Johns & Pitt tickets looked to be the crappy ones earlier in the season, now the Pitt one may be the hot ticket (with Villanova after) and St. Johns may be a great game now as they came out of nowhere and beat Louisville then Pitt (Today). Hopefully Louisville can improve a little to make a great game at Storrs at the end of the season... it will be the last home court game for UConn.

A little worried about UCONN this year. There were high hopes as last year Marcus Williams, the point guard, improved a great deal and Price, a hopeful who sat out due to a brain aneurism was to return this year.

Both of them were arrested due to stealing laptops. Price pleaded guilty and Williams took a special program for first offenders. He has to serve 400 hours of community service and gets probation, and his record will be wiped clean in a few years.

Unfortunately, as suspected, both players are suspended from the team indefinitely. It's not looking good -- while it sucks for the team, the NCAA rules are pretty strict and they did screw up big time. They really don't deserve to play on the team.

I'm not quite sure what Williams was thinking -- starting point guard and on a top NCAA division one team and he risks blowing his career over a few laptops.

I was just looking up the Huskies schedule and noticed that Calhoun was just inducted into the hall of fame! I knew they had been toying around with this for the past few years, abut apparently it finally happened.

I don't follow many sports, but one of the few I do is College Basketball. I don't follow all different teams and stats too much but I do love the UCONN Huskies. It's my home state (Connecticut) and about the only sport worth watching here.

The women's team has been one of the top teams over the last 10 years, and they have won numerous championships. They are great, and the coach does a fantastic job. However, I mostly watch the men's team.

I first started watching basketball, and the Huskies, back in college. I don't know why -- I think it was 1990 or 1991 when the Huskies started doing well out of nowhere. They had a great run in the tournament, including the famous full court 3-point shot with .3 (point 3) seconds left on the clock from the far corner. All hope was lost... they took a timeout and the inbounder heaved the ball full court to a player standing in the corner just beyond the arc. Funny, I don't even remember who took the shot, but they caught the ball, turned and released -- straight in to win the game. It was incredible.

The Huskies did ok through the early part of the 90's and then started improving a great deal towards the end of the decade... they kept making it far into the tournament but just falling short.

Finally in 1999 they won, beating Duke 77-74 in an incredible game. I was watching at "Coaches", a bar in Stamford CT (no longer exists) that was actually owned by Jim Calhoun, the head coach of the Huskies. It was a decent place, so it was too bad it is gone. It was great to go there to watch the big games. Anyway, the crowd went nuts -- I actually have some videos from it somewhere I took on an old Mavica digital camera (that used floppy disks). Maybe I'll try to get it online sometime.

In 2004 they did it again, beating Georgia Tech 82-73. That was another exciting year. I was lucky in that we were on a family trip to Las Vegas during March Madness. After that we were heading to Arizona to visit my brother-in-law. It just turned out that UCONN kept winning, and that they would be playing in Arizona when we were there -- so I was able to buy some tickets on EBay and see one of the final rounds live. The only negative was that I was hoping Syracuse had won there game, then we would have seen UCONN Syracuse which is a huge matchup for those of you in the Big East... and my wife is from Syracuse. Oh well, it was great anyway!
